black out

Today we had a once in a decade storm..though I must say I can't recall anything like this in my 30 years here.

Curiously, only half our street lost power...how does that one work!... and after some light flickering that was it. Amidst groans from junior, no telly eeeeek!, we settled in for an evening with candlelight and had a grand old time (once whinging had stopped) playing chess by flickering flames and camped out in the famliy room with logfire.
Having gas for cooking and hot water was a godsend so showered and fed, junior, hound and I were esconced on the sofa bed for a very crowded and cosy 10 hour kip.Bliss...although my back is now whinging!
