Lefkas Bug

Not sure what this is i have tried to identify it with no luck
I know its some sort of cricket so if anyone out there can help i would be very grateful
They are about 3cm long
The island is full of them
The other night when we were driving up in the mountains the roads were covered in them
Just a few at first so hubby was trying to avoid them but the further up we went the more there was and so he had no chance of missing them
We have been to quite a few Greek islands over the years but i have never seen them before
