Monday 11 June 2012: Evening roost
A farmer friend of mine has a barn owl roosting in his barn so I went round this afternoon to see her. Sure enough, at about 5pm (after an hour and a half in the pop-up hide) she turned up and posed nicely for me. Although she could hear me she clearly wasn't bothered by me. Beautiful beautiful birds.
Later I went to watch her hunt in an adjacent field (struggling for light in the barn by then). Extra excitement came from seeing a short-eared owl also hunting the same field. Got a distant but clear shot as a record shot.
