Tuesday 12 June 2012: Haitian Angel

There is an angel in our backyard, a metal art piece we brought back from Port-au-Prince. Haitian artists use old oil drums to create these sculptures. Not only do we admire Haitian art; we are grateful that we could bring back several pieces to have in our Kentucky home. For us, they are not only beautiful, but they hold memories of a place we lived for more than a year and a people we came to love.

"I'm an Earth ecstatic, and my creed is simple: All life is sacred, life loves life, and we are capable of improving our behavior toward one another. As basic as that is, for me it's also tonic and deeply spiritual, glorifying the smallest life-form and embracing the most distant stars."
~ Diane Ackerman, An Alchemy of Mind: The Marvel and Mystery of the Brain
