Life in a Northern Town

i-eye Day 43: - Central Park

The San Remo Building (I think) taken with the boating lake in the foreground.

We had a lovely morning in the park and zoo - I must admit I kept forgetting to take pictures on the phone so this is one of only a couple. The weather has been so kind to us, what a joy to wander around the vibrant and beautiful park in the sun.

We really are worn out now so we did a little shopping and have been relaxing in the hotel this afternoon. The boys have set off to see The Yankees and Sarah & I are debating our evening's activities. It is completely mental outside, the concierge says it's especially busy as Barack is in town. I popped down to Times Square earlier and found almost more police than tourists - see extras. Sarah, who really copes extraordinarily well with being transported around busy cities and dealing with constant change, does not like Times Square at all. I find it fascinating but it does have a slight edge to it. We have been treated with nothing but good natured courtesy and politeness on our trip from taxi drivers, to waitresses, to maids, to shop clerks, but in general not here in NYC so much. It's dog eat dog out there.

Tomorrow is our last day, we fly home in the evening. We all are ready to get back to normality and especially to collect the hound who we miss dearly. It's been quite a trip, our fifth trip to the USA in just over five years - maybe next year I will finally book somewhere different. My son is campaigning for Brazil - we shall see.....
