The High Life

His Lordship injected a little bit of culture to the Dower House this morning by suggesting we visit the Portrait Gallery to see the newly acquired photographs of South Uist taken by the American photographer Paul Strand in the 1960s. Although only a few have been purchased by the gallery, they belong to a larger collection with the title- Tir á Mhurain- land of the bent grass.

We did deviate to the gallery and shop, but only for a coffee and the purchase of a small book - 'In Scotland', a short journal of paintings by Winifred Nicholson's of her travels in the Western Isles. She was married to Ben Nicholson who unfortunately, as a male artist, has enjoyed much more prominence.

His Lordship couldn't resist the urge to strip off and try the trapeze. He can be so embarrassing.
