Desert landscape

Paid a visit to the parent, as it were, of Benmore Gardens. We spent three hours in Edinburgh's Botanic Gardens, using our membership cards to get into the glasshouses. When we first thought of doing this, the weather was grey and decidedly chilly and we thought a bit of Cambodian heat would suit us, but by the time we arrived it seemed like summer outside. (It'll never last ...)

The tropical houses were suitably sticky, but in the end it's always this hot desert that I enjoy: it's amazing how much less oppressive dry heat is.

Besides, it's a most attractive place .
