The Angler

I'm always on the lookout for interesting viewpoints and when I spotted this guy fishing near the road bridge just outside the office I had to go and check the possibilities out. He was sitting in the perfect position to grab a picture from above.

By the time I dropped down to the canal he was on his feet and wrestling with his rod, bent into a tight arc. It looked like he was doing battle with a massive pike but he soon admitted that it was more likely his line was caught up with a sunken shopping trolley.

I asked if he ate any of the fish he caught but he laughed at the very notion of eating something which had come out of such murky waters. He throws them back in. It's a strange pastime!
