Wednesday 13 June 2012: Running in traffic
The Olympic flame came to Edinburgh today and there were reasonably big crowds to see it go past in Tollcross. The three sponsors vehicles that led the cavalcade were very telling. One. possibly the ultimate drug-pushers, peddling their sugar-laden drinks that may be a major contributor to the obesity 'epidemic'. Two, a company who sell us the living room entertainment device that keeps us passively entertained. And three, a bank, that lends us the money to buy all the 'sweeties and comics' the other two and all the rest sell us. Not to mention holding the global economy to ransom with their reckless gambling with other people's money. The flame itself was reasonably impressive, although the flanking runners weren't exactly the best advert for fitness!
