Tian Tan Buddha

First day of exploring Hong Kong.

Cloudy, but dry, so an executive decision to head to Lantau Island to see the Big Buddha statue.

Took a train to the end of the line at Tung Chung with the intention of taking the cable car up to the top. But on arrival - the queues! Quick rethink and check of guide book, "loaned" an Oyster Octopus card from the Customer Service desk, and took Bus 23 round winding roads to the top.

Then for a leisurely explore of Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha (also a chance to try some vegetarian food, which I should have done, but didn't...something that might have prevented later hanger!) before heading to the cable car station where the wait for the gondola was less than 5 minutes.

I think the view on the journey down is much better in any case...
