EURASIAN SPOONBILL

alias platalea leucorodia or in dutch language simple called: lepelaar.
A all blue sky made Mischa and me cycling along the beach on the new cycle path, with partly spectacular view on the North Sea and it winds partly through the dunes and along the greenhouses of the Westland.
The rabbits play in the sand, all kinds of birds in the air and in the bushes, near 's-Gravesande there are two bigger fens, and there to our surprise we saw the lepelaars, five together and one on her own. They were eating in such a high tempo, amazingly to see, with their beaks in the undeep water.
Once they heard a strange sound and they flew up and came down again.
A beautiful flight.
The funny thing was that we had not in mind to go as far as Hoek, but at all the beach pavillions were closed at the time we came by and at least in Hoek we could sit and drink coffee and orange juice at the soft cushions.
Our way back was a bit of a surprise because we had not considered that as we had cycled so easily towards our goal that that was due to the wind in our back.
Hard pedaling on our way home!

My haiku:

You hungry, we too
Thursty from the sun shining
Merciless but bliss

And the proverb:

A good heart cannot lie.
