Thursday 14 June 2012: Flame On
Lately it's been unusual for me to get a blip first thing in the morning but due to a certain torch relay I had it in the back just after 7am.
Now in truth I've not really been that interested in the torch relay but after attending today I can now see the appeal. The crowd were really behind the runner and even at the time of morning the atmosphere was excellent.
Whilst waiting on the parade to start I noticed a friend hanging round one of the relay cars. It turns out he's driving the support car that follows the runner for the full 70 days.
Did anyone else noticed that there was something not quite right with the signage on the Coca Cola truck. The Scotland in 'Scotland Celebrate your future.....' didn't look right. For some reason it would appear that they have placed a Scotland transfer over the words Great Britain. Has the Scottish referendum already taken place and no-one told us. I found this a really strange thing to do but I'm sure someone in the PR department got some good money for this idea.
Last night whilst speaking to Bob about the relay she went to see she burst out laughing as apparently someone from the village had nipped into the local shops to buy a ice-cream of sorts. However, when he came out the BOS, Coca Cola truck etc had just went by and he ran onto the road behind them holding his ice-cream up and started waving at the crowd. Apparently the crowd went nuts and starts cheering - Bob was in hysterics telling me the story.
