Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

By NannaK

stripes

Welcomed back to the island by zillions of these pests crawling everywhere under the willows and alder trees.(and dropping on anyone walking there!) So I thot I'd try to play with the 85mm lesns as a macro -my, that dof is very shallow - but kind of liked the effect of all these stripes. (on the top is a string that we put about 1 inch above the wharf railings to deter the sea gulls from sitting there (and pooping ) It works, sort of. These are malacosome americanun, or eastern caterpillar and they are just ready to build their cocoons, so the moths will be along soon. Not going into the life cycle-you can look it up IF you care. H says at least I didn't waste any film on them!

We had planned to meet the water guy when we arrived at the island this morning. The filter system pump (not the well) is still leaking -we had the book club on water conservation - bottled water, paper plates, 1 quick shower etc etc in order not to run the pump too much. Well the water guy was going to come before the book club, then during that time, but just "couldn't make it" He comes from Victoria. So, 2 weeks ago, we arranged to meet today. Lots of time to prepare his schedule. After we got here we got an email that he missed the ferry (!!!) but would come this weekend. It's now after 6 and we haven't heard when. This is a SERIOUS case of "Island-time-itis"!!! It's hard for us city folk to relate. H is running out of patience.

Other than that, a beautiful calm day. Had a good sit on the beach (but didn't see anything better to blip...)
