Going Home

Our holiday was over, and today was the day that we had to fly home. We had an early start, as we had to check out of our motel, return our rental car, and then check in at the Airport. I hate being late, and would rather spend a bit of time watching the world go by waiting for our flight, than rushing to catch it. And that's what happened today - we were ahead of schedule so had time to sit and wait.

This picture shows our plane arriving into Rotorua Airport from Wellington, it then had to be unloaded, refuelled and our luggage put on, by that time it was time for us to board.

The weather was brilliant leaving Rotorua, however, it wasn't long before we got into cloud and couldn't really see a lot. Flying into Wellington was a bit bumpy, however we landed ok - although it was very cold, wet and windy getting from the plane to the terminal.

We had lunch at Wellington Airport, while waiting for our next flight to Nelson. When it came to boarding the plane, it was still wet, cold and very gusty. We sat on the tarmac waiting for a few late passengers, and the plane was moving due to the wind. We were finally boarded, and left Wellington - it was a very rough departure, however the flight smoothed out the further we got away from Wellington.

We were very pleased to arrive in Nelson - it was very calm and a perfect blue sky. However, that wasn't the end of our journey, as we had another 2 hour drive home!

We had a really enjoyable break in Rotorua, however it is nice to be home, even if the temperature is already -2.3 degrees (8.45pm). It's going to be a ripper of a frost tonight!

I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with everyone's blips - now I'm home I hope to be able again to catch up with you all!
