In 1616........

In 1616 Dutch Explorer Dirk Hartog discovered the West Coast of Australia

He nailed a Pewter plate onto a post on the northern tip of the Island at what is now known as Point Inscription

The early explores had to navigate the rugged Western Australian coast typified by the seas and cliffs of this photo I took today on the West coast of Dirk Hartog Island

The island is a national Wild Life reserve with sensational spots to take in the wonderful rugged coastline. It is also known for its great fishing.

We are staying at the Homstead on the Island with one of my closest friends who gave us a good tour of the Island today, before we go out and look for a few oysters to have with our cold white wine and fresh fish from the Bay

Not a bad way to fill in a day
