Friday: Sisak

We had a visiting delegation in town today so I took them out to a town called Sisak, about an hour outside of Zagreb.  It is a pretty depressed area and, alongside Knin, is one of the areas that still has issues with refugees and returnees following the war here in the early 90s.  It is pretty close to the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina and saw some of the worst fighting at that time.  We met with some organisations working on these issues and heard some pretty interesting things.

It is quite a different side to Croatia and one I hadn't seen yet.

Sadly, it often wasn't appropriate to take photos - this was in downtown in Sisak where we sat and had a drink after our meetings.
