Eryngium yuccifolium

Or Button snakeroot. This strange looking plant grows from 2 to 4 feet tall. It was used by Native American Indians and the pioneers medicinally. An infusion was used for toothaches, kidney diseases and a decoction used for whooping cough. An infusion of the root could be used for snakebite. Like many medicinal plants, it was used for a variety of ailments.
Hopefully, I have included in the extras a shot of the entire plant. My blipfoto hasn't been working as well as it might on the i-Pad, so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I hope you are all having less of a struggle.
