Amaryllis belladonna

blooms in the back yard.
I really should dig these up, put them in a pot and permanently "bestow" them with Daughter #2.
Once upon a time, when she was attending Hamilton Elementary School, she came home and told me she wanted to save these flowers that were growing in some huge dug-up mounds of dirt and clay at a house being demolished between our house and the school. She was insistent!
I had to pack her in the car with a shovel and some burlap sacking, drive per her directions, dig up the poor abandoned flowers, drive them home, then plant them.
They pop up and blossom every summer.  I'll bet she's forgotten they're still here.
