We got stuck behind this beast as we made our way to Delemere Forest. It wasn't too long before we were able to pass. We gave a them a cherry wave as we passed and were rewarded with a toot from his steam horn.

About an hour or so later we were sitting enjoying a mid-walk cup of tea, and of course an accompanying carmel wafer, when we heard it rumbling along the adjacent road.

We photographed it last year when we visited the Daresbury Steam Fair.

You will all of course recognise it as a 1923 Fowler DN1 road roller, engine number 16078, registration number SV9427.

You did, didn't you?
