At ease

It was a little easier to persuade Teddy into his harness today, though he was less pleased to be bundled into a box, as a law-abiding cat should be, before we drove off in the camper van to the Bay of Lopness. We packed a picnic with the idea of keeping Teddy in situ for a couple of hours at least.

We liberated the cat on arrival then put out a dish of food and some water and we left Teddy to settle in while we took Nell for a walk on the beach. As we strolled past the remains of the old Land Rover decaying on the sand it clicked with me that it is exactly a year since Brunhilde came to join us and we had our first trip in her to this very same location.

After our walk we sat and listened to the radio, watching the waves and the seals sporting around the wreck of the B98 and ate our picnic tea. Teddy curled up on the front passenger seat in the sunshine. He looks quite relaxed about matters, doesn't he?

On the way home we tried him on the leash instead of boxing him. He settled on my lap and was perfectly relaxed. That's a first! In 14 years he has never once settled on any lap under any circumstances.

I think he may come to enjoy being a mobile cat. However, it looks more and more like he will not be coming with us to France. This pet passport business is a nonsense when it comes to Bengals.
