Creative Martyrs

Once again my mother-in-law was on babysitting duty so MrsCyclops and I could go and see some shows.

We started with the Creative Martyrs at Voodoo Rooms.  We thought we were getting "Tales from a Cabaret", but they have swapped their shows so we got "An Hour Long Sinister Wink" instead.  We've seen it before, but it was very much worth seeing again - still dark, still funny, still beautifully executed!

We then ended up at a comedy compilation show called Test Tube Comedy also at the Voodoo Rooms.  This was really, really funny and the acts did a fabulous job with a small (and at times difficult thanks to Nigel and Jill) audience.  It was the perfect finge show - with a surrealist cabbage sketch, a film noir audience participation with a fab lighting prop, and a mildly baffled standup who ended up playing ringmaster to a heckling audience more then doing his routine, but still had us all in stitches.  Brilliant.

It was great to see Jollyboat and the Creative Martyrs, both are firm favourites, but Test Tube was the highlight for me, as it was the whole eclectic, random, brilliant strangeness of the fringe at it's very best.
