Ness of Brodgar

We set off first for Yesnaby, for which Ogatodomar has a great fondness. We walked along the cliffs as far as the 'old woman', a sea stack not as famous as the Old Man of Hoy, but very impressive in her own right. Then we visited the dig at the Ness of Brodgar - something of a busman's holiday for DaveH, but it was utterly fascinating. We had a guided tour which was just coming to an end when a party of schoolchildren arrived - that's them on the viewing platform.

The neatly built stone walls in the foreground are approx 5000 years old...
