Chaos

The streets of Oban were very busy today as the pipe band procession reclaimed the town from the cars. This was the view from my office window this morning. It is the Highland Games know sometimes as Oban games but I have always known it as the Argyllshire Gathering. It is quite an upper crust affair and not for the plebs of the town like me. Tonight there will be the Gathering Ball which is invitation only and that is not for me either.

Oh well back to the chaos of my house tonight. The builders have stripped the plaster from the second bedroom and now things really are starting to spill over. We have plasterboard in every room stacked against the walls, you have to shuffle along the hall past tools and more plasterboard, 4 of the rooms in the house are completely unusable so we are crammed in the other three (along with the new plasterboard). The stairs have a plastic floor covering on them and there is plaster dust absolutely everywhere. Oh and the front garden is full of plasterboard and insulation and the back full of lathes which I am keeping because it is excellent kindling. The good news is the electrician turned up today but tried to wire the new sockets to the outlet of the storage heaters...big mistake as they only come on sometimes as the storage heaters are on a total control (no control) system. We are to get a new electrician next week
We are nearly half way through the job...hurrah
