To Urk

Awoke to the sound of rain on the tent. It turned lighter, but there was little sign of it stopping. We decided to strike camp and in a cafe we realised that a trip to Urk would work - the 4pm ferry would take us over to Einkhuizen.
Off we slogged through the wind and rain; the rain, at times torrential, eventually gave over but the wind strengthened from the north, making it a bit of a strenuous cycle. Here we are, chain ganging along the final 6km to Urk.
And that was the final 6km - the ferry stopped on 30th August. Gagh! Still, it's an attractive place - it used to be an island in the Ijsselmeer and has a busy little harbour - we watched some eels being unloaded off one of the boats. I may bring one home as a gift.
