BBC

Peter and I have spent the afternoon and evening at Broadcasting House. We were in the audience for the first two screenings of the Tracey Ullman Show.
T U has not performed on British TV for 25 years (that makes me feel old). She has been hugely successful in the USA in that time.

I'll not give anything away but when it is aired on the BBC next year I recommend you watch it. Some very, very funny sketches, including an absolutely priceless sketch imitating a European politician and one of a Dame from the acting world.
She is a very talented lady. Extremely funny and clever.

We were told that all the sketches we viewed would not necessarily be in the final edit for TV.
They must surely choose the sketches that we all laughed at the most. We were sitting right underneath one of the audience microphones so I feel quite sure that the sketches I mentioned above will definitely make it through when they heard us roaring with laughter.

One miserable old humbug in the audience made a hooha half way through and walked out because it was not a live performance. Rather churlish given the tickets are free. We were all pretty disgusted with her. She missed out because it was hilarious AND we had the privilege of being the first people to see it.

Quite weary now we are home. It took us an hour to get home but given that the trains were up the creek and the end bit was on a replacement bus service, that is not too bad.
