Heartbeat

Floating like a cloud in the ceiling over Covent Garden's South Hall, the French artist Charles Pétillon's 100,000 balloons pulse with white light as if to a heartbeat.  Amazing to see!

The live art is 54m long, 12m wide and each latex balloon is different. He wanted to reflect the energy and dynamism of the area underneath, creating something alive and vibrant, hence the title Heartbeat. He uses  balloons because they are a universal symbol of joy having a playful element but have the power to add an alien quality to an everyday thing or place, to change our point of view and perspective.

Personally I like it - very fun!
