Ark

This ark might be needed yet!
Thank you for all your concern and good wishes after yesterday's rather dramatic floods. The water has gone down now just leaving a sludge but pretty amazing how high it came - I'm not sure my lettuces will ever be the same. We had it lucky compared with the folks who live up by Maulnaskiha - the road literally disappeared  with some people left down in the village and some up on the mountain and the only way to travel was on foot - very carefully. One man tried to clear some of the road with his digger - the digger fell into a pothole and his hand was trapped underneath the machine. The ambulance couldn't get up the road so air rescue was sent in!  The posh dinner in the pub seemed to have gone ahead as did a candlelit recital in the church. And we looked in amazement at an image posted on Facebook showing a huge waterfall cascading off the end of the Sheep's head where no waterfall should have been.
We didn't make it to dinner in Ballydehob but we did manage a last catch up with Shaaamie and Ali in a rather deserted and slightly damp Tin Pub.
And yes, it's my birthday - thank you to those who have already remembered :) One year bolder. Coffee with Shaaamie and Ali before they left homeward bound (thank you so much for that gnome!!!!!! And the card - I know you're blameless Ali!!); lunch with TJ, who had a very hair-raising journey back from work yesterday, and now Himself is making a curry, then we might watch  Far from the Madding Crowd, courtesy of my brother - we know how to live!!
