Lord Baltimore

The butterflies were calling my name today and when I visited the field, it was very windy and the butterflies were not around. (what a difference a day makes) After a few minutes, I spotted this Baltimore Checkerspot named after the first Lord Baltimore, whose coat of arms matched the colors on this butterfly. I then found out that is what the Baltimore Oriole is named after also! I like when I learn something new! (I later spotted another fritillary who was missing some of his back wing.)

I don't like to see how tattered his wings are but I must say, I do know how he feels!
