Why Is He Doing That?

I've featured my weekly pétanque games several times. In case you've forgotten, we've made lots of changes to the classic game, wandering at will through a local park.

One of our favorite locations is a steep trail which includes several short flights of stone steps. In our rules, a player is allowed to pick up his ball and throw it again if it rolls back, provided he is able to reach it without moving his feet. Here's Dave doing just that.

There have been a few occasions where a ball has bounced off a tree and rolled back within reach on level ground. Pétanque is never boring the way we play it!
