Shadows of the Wanderer

Ana Maria Pacheco

Although constructed and first exhibited in 2010, this sculpture of 10 figures all hewn from a single lime tree strikes a very real chord in today's world of refugees, migrants and other displaced people.

Given its setting in the transept of Norwich Cathedral, I would hope it also sends out a message of refuge and welcome. It involves the observer and the nearly outstretched hands, almost seeking help, can't easily be ignored.

Been an interesting few hours in Norwich and it was a refreshingly different kind of city to explore. Lots of independent bars and restaurants, lots of history and old buildings still intact. There is much to see and investigate further.
