It was a very dreich day so we didn't venture out until the evening. We took the train to Blackfriars and the timing couldn't be better! The Lord Mayor's fireworks whooshed up in front of us. We alighted the train at Blackfriars and had the perfect, uncrowded platform for viewing the scene. Amazing! I'll remember this place for next year.

We wandered along the Southbank, which was buzzing with folk coming back from the fireworks, until we reached the Royal Festival Hall. Luck was still with us as there were two £10 tickets for the performance of "Thunderbirds Are Go!" in which the music of Barry Gray was played by the London PHilharmia Orchestra, with Brian Blessed as host (absolutely hilarious) and Voces8 singing all the 'Stingray, Stingray' bits. It was such a fun evening. Gerry Anderson sat in the Royal Box throughout and Brian Blessed was very loud and cheery. Most of Gray's music hadn't been played live before to an audience, so it was a bit of a first.
