No corpse, just a few feathers

Just before watering the garden tonight I spied this Blue Jay feather in the grass plus a half-dozen smaller fluffy ones. There was no blood, nor was there a corpse so I'm thinking it got jumped by a neighbour's cat but got away. Our cats were in all day so I know it wasn't them. It might make an interesting quill but it's too small.

Scorching hot day again today.
