Now You See Them...

It couldn't have been a nicer day to do our long postponed walk with Joppa Strand and Tiggy.
It had originally been scheduled for March, but because of weather and work commitments, we finally got our act together this morning.

It was a gentle off-road stroll by a path along the Brunstane burn from Portobello to New Hailes House.
It was so quiet and secluded that it was difficult to remember that the main railway line and the busy A1 were almost within a stone's throw on either side of us.

We stravaiged, we chatted, we watched trains speeding past on the other side of a corn field to busy London, we picked up conkers, we admired the views over East Lothian, we blipped, and finally, with the sun shining, we sat outside at the café in the cobbled yard of the old stable block belonging to New Hailes House, and yes, His Lordship and I partook of the scone test.

This walk was a wonderful find for us and will be repeated, although it might not be so enjoyable without the company we had today. Thank you JS and Tiggy for being the best companions.

I couldn't resist another picture of the Cockenzie twin towers which if all goes to plan will be just a memory by this time tomorrow, and a huge loss to the orienteering prowess of very many cyclists. It is a case of now you see them............now you.............watch this space!
