Thursday 21 June 2012: puddling dynamics
I don't mind getting wet feet (and, on the way home, wet most other things) but it would be better if my bicycle-shoes dried out a bit quicker than they dry out, as this evening's home-rain was probably rainful enough to create shoes which will still be dampish in the morning. One of the best ways of getting them thoroughly damp is to step in a puddle, when water will flood in through the cleat-fixing panel, though riding upwards along a street with poor drainage like the Canongate which turns into a temporary fast-flowing shallow river in the rain can be equally effective. As we no longer have time to read a Saturday newspaper I had to make do with the free council newspaper thing, which I probably ought to pop down and change now as it'll already be sodden.
