Friday 22 June 2012: The Weary Tree

The Weary Tree is a familiar sight to travellers heading to and from Eaglesham on the B767. The stretch of Glasgow Road leaving Eaglesham towards Waterfoot is known locally as Bell Craig and takes its name from Bell Craig Croft, an arable field lying to the south of Laigh Borland. On top of a rock, overhanging the road, is the "Weary Tree". The tree was a landmark which farmworkers and road workers could see from a distance and know that they were near home
