Elk Watching

I managed to grab a shot of a passing cowboy in Leadville this morning. In daylight it turned out to be quite a nice little town with a big mining history. I have put it in extras.

Continuing our drive north, and changing our plans with advice from each lot of friendly locals we met, we drove through the Rocky Mountains National Park again reaching an altitude of 12,000ft.

We saw some elks along with some other elk watchers including this patriotic American.

We have had some difficulty paying any National Park fees. The first day at the Grand Canyon it was National Parks Day so entry was free. The next day we couldn't make the credit card reader on the open, unmanned gate to work so we just went on in. Today there was a girl at the gate to tell us the register was down so we didn't have to pay :-)
