Friday 22 June 2012: A band of rain sweeping

Due to a series of events I found myself in Holyrood Park at around the time when the city was hit by a thunderstorm and I couldn't resist taking a drive up on to the high section to watch the weather drama unfold.

This photograph taken from the section above Duddingston Loch looking towards the Pentlands finely illustrates the meaning of that weather phrase "a band of rain will sweep across the country".
