Sunday 24 June 2012: Red, White and Blue #2

This patriotic mural was designed and painted by the staff and students of one our local Primary schools, Brookside, one of the first Primary Academies in the country. It's painted on the hoardings of the building site for a proposed YMCA hostel for homeless young people which has caused some controversy in the area, partly due to the apparently rather utilitarian nature of the design and partly due to a few people's concerns about the undesirability of having a hostel in the village. Fortunately, the majority of the loca;l community recognise the importance of doing our bit in helping young people in need and the architectural plans have been revised, so it looks like going ahead. In the meantime, this makes an attractive adornment to the site.

Not so sure that it was hayfever that was affecting Tess yesterday now, as I developed the same symptoms as the evening wore on and we've both been feeling lousy all day. As I don't normally suffer with hay fever, we reckon our winter flu jabs have finally worn off! Managed to get a second coat of paint on the ceiling and now watching England v W Indies T20 cricket and hoping for a double Home victory with the football tonight.
