Flying Heron

A rather stressful day.  During the regular morning checks I noticed that the bilge pump wasn't working.  In the past removal and cleaning so floats etc were free sorted the problem.  Not today!   So we called the waterways equivalent of the AA/RAC, they would not attend unless we couldn't move the boat or were in danger, well we weren't in either position.

So we took the pump off and checked that the engineer I spoke to was correct in thinking the automatic action would still work.  Guess what?   He was wrong!   So only one thing for it, find a chandlers and fit a new pump ourselves.  This took much of the day but finally we had found what we wanted and fitted it.

For me the day was saved by this shot I managed of a Heron as it flew away from the approaching boat passing us to land behind the boat.   The day apart from that was uneventful passing through some of the more industrialised areas.
