Extra Harvest

The elderberry harvest included several spiders, which gradually emerged from the tangle of stalks as I removed each head to strip the berries. I removed them and carefully deposited  threw them outside.

Two more species appeared today, as the fork scraped them from the safety of the stalks into the collecting bowl; the caterpillar was fished out immediately, the millipede (extra photo) curled up and camouflaged itself as an elderberry so could not be rescued until it had wriggled to the surface. Both were alive and well when they joined the spiders.

Any beasts which have not shown themselves are now either stewed and spiced into cordial or frozen.
