Sunday 24 June 2012: Hiding...
849/365: ... but not very well. He just couldn't keep his head from appearing every so often despite trying his hardest to be ninja-boy. Excitement is hard to contain when you're 6!
So, today we had friends up to visit from Milton Keynes - who I know read my blips (*waves at them both*) and it was brilliant to see them. You know those people who you always think 'I'm lucky to know you' about? Well, these are two of those people.
The morning was spent pootling in the kitchen before they arrived. Made a matar paneer, spinach bhaji, bombay potatoes, veggie korma, tarka dal and a few other bits and bobs for a thali. Then some meringues for pud. I managed to burn my eye lid and just below my eye when the oil I was using for cooking the paneer spat and caught me off guard. I only just managed to close my eye in time and it stung like an absolutely bar steward! I don't recommend that bit at all!!
After that, the rest of the day was for chatting and laughing. Which is just about spot on really!
Even the weather behaved. It rained so heavily overnight it woke me at about midnight and continued pouring until just after 8. But the rest of the day was blustery but sunshiny. It was even nice enough to go out for a walk - though I'd completely forgotten that lots of rain = lots of mud (whoops!). The kids ran around and screeched happily... Fizz discovered an equally big child in one of our friends and laughed his head off as he played an almost entirely one-sided game of hide and seek.
PS Days like this are proper weekend days
PPS Every day should have that 'proper weekend day' feel!
