Actually, a part of a bath/shower fixture. This one has been the bane of my existence for more than 20 years. Okay, a little drama, but I have to change washers on this piece regularly, and sometimes replace the whole thing because of worn pipes and plumbing hardware. I bought this one new, but it has a defect. Luckily I bought two and only really needed to replace one. I'm not a plumber. In fact, I know more than I want to now about plumbing...
