Wound up in Wexford

Geysir? Well, actually it's Strokkur

So this is 365.

I'm backblipping this on 20th, as I didn't have time yesterday.  We did the "Golden Circle" tourist route.  We were a bit concerned about how enjoyable it would be.  The previous day we did "The South Coast" with a small group - there were just 6 of us plus the guide.  In contrast, we were doing the Golden Circle tour in a large bus.

Actually, despite this, and despite rather less than wonderful weather, we had a thoroughly good day.  I took loads of photos, but for 365, it just had to be a geyser eruption.

The name Geysir was derived from Icelandic, meaning "to gush", and Geysir is one of the geysers in this area.  But is rarely erupts these day, though when it does, it is a truly enormous spout.  But Strokkur is impressive enough, and moreover, can be relied upon to erupt every few minutes.

Having spent the day getting rained upon a good deal, as we returned to Reykjavik, the weather cleared up, and we were able to go out in the evening to see the Northern lights.  A long lasting, but not very colourful display, and I didn't manage any successful photos.  Having tried to take a few, and got nothing very special, I decided that I preferred to enjoy the display, rather than struggle to take photos.
