Leparello's Lady

Another of Philip Jackson's wonderful creations. Called in today to find the courtyard at the Sculpture Studios near Midhurst denuded of the usual number of large pieces. Just two left, and this is one I haven't seen before. The only Leparello I've come across is Don Giovanni's servant, but would he have had a lady as smart and elegant as this? At 93" tall, and with those hands, she is imposing.

Philip Jackson creates the most wonderful figures based on C18th Venetian figures, as well as statues of commemoration such as Bobby Moore, King George VI, Queen Elizabeth and Matt Busby. He was born in Scotland in 1944 but now lives and works in West Sussex.
