Supporting the Girl Child: Choma Secondary school

26th October 2015:
Supporting the girl child is a new project for Wells for Zoe.
What it means is that we will pay fees for girls who who come from poor families and have qualified for Secondary school.
About six years ago we decided to pay fees, for girls, because families will always find a way to send their boys. Over the period  we realised more and more that fees are only part of the obstacle. It's like the tip of the iceberg of disadvantage.
Over the next weeks there will be stories that might tempt you to support one of the 71 girls on our list who are in dire need of varying degrees of assistance.
The cost is small and the benefit to these girls, will be a change to their lives forever.
We are currently assisting their school, Choma,  to complete a girls hostel, as many of the girls live long distances from the school long distances.
They are all in Form 1 of four years in Secondary schooling.
