At the Festival Theatre to watch a live broadcast of Hamlet from the Barbican

I was sceptical, thinking that it could be the worst of both cinema and theatre worlds. Not as technically advanced or realistic as film, but with none of the chemistry and immediacy of live theatre. To some extent that turned out to be the case, but there was enough of a sense of shared experience in the theatre to make it an enjoyable and engaging evening (albeit a long one - who knew Hamlet was Shakespeare's longest play?).
