Lake Tekapo

Our last full day in New Zealand. :-(

First thing this morning we drove up to the summit of Mount John, to look at where we'd been the previous night - this time in the daytime.  We saw some magnificent views all around.  The first extra is the telescope we looked in, and the second is one of the views from the top.

We then went down into Lake Tekapo itself and took some photos of the Church of the Good Shepherd and the view over the lake.

From there we drove on towards Geraldine, and stopped at a viewpoint of snow-capped peaks.  This was right next to a cafe, so we stopped for a lunch break.  We stopped for tea in Geraldine (home of the world's largest sweater - Guinness Book or Records approved!) and then drove on.  We tried to have a walk at Sharplin Falls, but the track was closed due to a rockfall.  We contented ourselves with a short walk to the closed section and then moved on.

Our final stop was at Rakaia Gorge where we had some more great views of the river.

The main blip is the overriding memory of the holiday - driving on very straight roads, through lovely farmland, approaching snow-capped peaks.

The final extra is of a squid cloud.  See if you can see it!
