Shorncliffe Pier Rebuilt

The Old Shorncliffe Pier is currently being rebuilt after the pier was closed in 2012. Reconstruction completion: Early 2016

First constructed in 1880s featuring Brisbane's largest timber pier (260m later extended to 351.5m). William Deagon, a local hotel proprietor, built it for commercial uses but with limited success due to the lack of depth for docking and the last ferry docked in 1928. Imagined the hustles and bustles on the deck at the time with amusement rides, stalls and a picture theatre. Reminded me of Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles. References
