Waratah - Shady Lady Collection

Waratah (Telopea) is endemic to Australia, found mainly in the south east and is a member of the proteaceae family. The head or spike consists of tiny, densely packed flowers from 6 -15cm in diameter. This particular specimen is 6cm with a basal ring of coloured bracts, as seen in the thumbnail. The name waratah comes from the Eora Aboriginal tribe, the original inhabitants of the Sydney area.
