Wednesday 27 June 2012: pea flowers

A good sign that wildflower season is just around the corner with these tiny patches of purple glowing in the otherwise grey-green undergrowth.

So called, I guess, because they set seeds in little pods, this is one of the Hoveas, a genus of the Fabulous Fabaceae family. (Sounds more like a trapeze act!)Perennial and native to WA , the Common Hovea, also known as the Blue Bonnet is such a bonny and cheerful litle soul.
